Yaa Allah, do not let our hearts deviate…

Allah عزوجل says in the Qur’an;

He is the One Who has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book, of which some verses are precise—they are the foundation of the Book—while others are elusive.1 Those with deviant hearts follow the elusive verses seeking ˹to spread˺ doubt through their ˹false˺ interpretations—but none grasps their ˹full˺ meaning except Allah. As for those well-grounded in knowledge, they say, “We believe in this ˹Quran˺—it is all from our Lord.” But none will be mindful ˹of this˺ except people of reason.

˹They say,˺ “Our Lord! Do not let our hearts deviate after you have guided us. Grant us Your mercy. You are indeed the Giver ˹of all bounties˺.

Surah Ali Imran 3:7-8

We must always be thankful for the blessing of Islam. Gratitude may be displayed through duaa for firmness upon the deen of Allah عزوجل which includes increasing in knowledge and acting upon the beneficial knowledge that one receives. This intention in itself is a blessing as Allah says in the Qur’an;

And this ˹Quran˺ is not the word of an outcast devil. So what ˹other˺ path would you take? Surely this ˹Quran˺ is only a reminder to the whole world—to whoever of you wills to take the Straight Way. But you cannot will ˹to do so˺, except by the Will of Allah, the Lord of all worlds.

Surah At-Takwir 81:22-29

Glad tidings to those who have submitted themselves to Allah عزوجل and resolved upon His path! Prophet Dawud عليه والسلام understood the blessing of submission and praise to Allah when he said;

”O Lord! How can I ever duly thank You, when my thanking You is also a favor from You to me” Allah the Exalted answered him, “Now, you have thanked Me sufficiently, O Dawud,” meaning, `when you admitted that you will never be able to duly thank Me.’

Tafseer Ibn Katheer

The Muslim should remember the favors of Allah عزوجل often by remembering the darkness and confusion which be brought us our from as He عزوجل says in the Qur’an;

“And He found you lost and guided you.”

Surah Ad-Duha 93:7

And when He عزوجل says;

“Therefore remember Me (by praying, glorifying, etc.). I will remember you, and be grateful to Me (for my countless Favours on you) and never be ungrateful to Me.”

Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:152

Beautiful duaas to remember;

“Our Lord! Forgive me and my parents, and all the believers on the Day the reckoning will be established.” Surah Ibrahim, 14:41

“And We have enjoined upon man to be dutiful and kind to his parents. His mother bears him with hardship and she brings him forth with hardship, and the bearing of him, and the weaning of him is thirty (30) months, till when he attains full strength and reaches forty years, he says: “My Lord! Grant me the power and ability that I may be grateful for Your Favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents, and that I may do righteous good-deeds, such as please You, and make my offspring good. Truly, I have turned to You in repentance, and truly, I am one of the Muslims.” Surah Al-Ahqaf, 46:15

Ameen.
